This resource is the slide deck for a 50 minute workshop, Unplugged CT with Classroom Manipulatives. Computational thinking (CT) is foundational for computer science. Additionally, it underpins problem-solving across the curriculum. In this hands-on session, you will explore how generic classroom manipulatives (e.g., pattern blocks, LEGOs, Unifix (cm) cubes, modeling clay) can introduce computational thinking without devices. You will experience unplugged activities for teaching and practicing the four pillars of computational thinking (decomposition, pattern recognition, algorithms, and abstraction). You will walk away with practical approaches for enhancing student learning. You will learn about the benefits of this approach (tangible CT).
